Work Experience

Students over the age of 15 years are permitted - and strongly encouraged - to undertake Work Experience as a part of their own career development. Work Experience allows your daughter the opportunity to try out a career aspiration she’s considering for life after school, with the support of the Career Development Department. Whether she loves her experience, ends up not enjoying the experience, or it’s not what she thought it would be, all of these learning opportunities will help inform her choices throughout, and after school. We want our students to make choices that are best for them! The more your daughter engages with the ‘world of work’ during her school years, the more likely she’ll avoid becoming an adult not in education, employment or training (see image below). She can’t get any better chance of this than through Work Experience!

All the information on how to organise a Work Experience placement can be found under ‘Workplace Learning’ on siriuscollegecareers.com. She can also speak to either Ms. Esma Yucel or Mr. Scott Westray whenever she wants help. 3 weeks’ notice is needed prior to all placements.

Introducing new staff

Welcoming Gunes Asik

Hello to all members of the Sirius College community.

My name is Mrs. Asik and this year I have taken on the role of ‘Learning Support Teacher.’ This role aims to enhance academic engagement and progress of students within the school.

I have been part of the education profession for almost a decade and feel a great sense of joy in seeing progress and personal accomplishments in young people.

It is a privilege to be part of the Sirius College community and I wish our students all the best for 2020 and beyond!
